Chef Ashton

Ashton is pro at making cheese noodles. Today as he was making them I told him "You will need to grate cheese because we are out of grated cheese." His response made me smile. "Booya! Cause if there is one thing I am good at it is grating cheese!"

Snow camping

Over Presidents weekend we went camping up at Joshua tree with our friends the Hannons and Russels. We knew it would be a little cold, but we grew nervous as we arrived and saw snow covering a lot of the ground. We were not prepared for such cold camping. The kids didn't mind the cold and loved climbing all over the cool rocks that surround the area. The guys also weren't bothered by the cold and even enjoyed a snowball fight with the kids (and each other). It was the women who minded the cold the most and spent most of the time sitting right next to the fire that blazed the entire time we were there. We had a fun, memorable, albeit cold, time there and are glad we went.

Tera's first bee sting

I happened to have the camera right next to me when Tera was stung by a bee for the first time. It was quite sad, and yet impressive that she has gone six years without ever getting stung. She was sad for a moment, but quickly turned her frown upside down for another picture.

Flashback to the 80's

I looked at these pictures of little Mazzi in this jean jacket, high pony tail and yellow beaded necklace and was reminded of the fashion during my childhood. She is proudly showing off her latest tattoo.

With kids, every days interesting.

Who knows what inspired my kids to dress up in the oddest outfits they could find? But they were inspired, and it resulted in many laughs. I love that kids keep every day interesting. You just never know whats going to happen when you have kids around! Mazzi only got so far as putting socks on her hands, but she wanted in on the silliness!

Rockstar!

Tera picked out this fun shirt on our last mother/daughter date night. I think it is cute on her and told her she looked like a rock star, to which she said "take a picture then." So I did.

My hot date

I went on a hot date with this little cutie last week...
Matt and decided we would take the kids out on dates one day each month. This was our second month and both times have been so much fun!
The kids plan the dates activities. For our date Ashton chose picking out a video game action figure at target, eating orange chicken at Panda Express, and taking his tae kwon do class together.
I had so much fun with my silly little guy. At Panda Express I asked him if he thought he would take his first real date here and he said "Yes. Well, no. I will let her choose where ever she wants to go." Then when we opened our fortune cookies he said, "Oh! Mine is true! It says that I will go on my first date to Panda Express." It didn't really say that, but it made us both laugh.
Doing the tae kwon do class together was so much fun. Ashton is really good at kicking. He was very competitive with me the whole night. When we ran laps he ran as fast as he could so that I could barley stay with him and when we did sit ups he sped through them so he finished way before me. Any time we punched or kicked anything he wanted to do it better and harder than me. I love my Ashton and was so glad I got to go on a date with him and make some good memories!

We have a cub scout!

Ashton is now in cub scouts and enjoys being with all his church friends each Wednesday. They do a lot of fun activities together. Ashton passed his bobcat trail and is now a wolf, so he got his first badge last week at the blue and gold banquet. He thought it was a little strange when they started marking his face, but he was very proud of himself.

I love you a bushel and a peck

We had a nice Valentines Day together, celebrating how much we love each other!

We got the kids each a Valentines gift. Tera got a heart necklace. One day for a school assignment Tera was supposed to write down something she really wanted. She wrote "I willy want a spechul pretty heart necklis." So we got her one. She was very excited about it.
Matt made everyone heart shaped pancakes for our Valentines breakfast. I love celebrating my love for my sweet little family!
