This boot shall pass

One of my best friends, Kim, hurt her foot when she fell down a hill rescuing her daughter. The fall resulted in her breaking her ankle very badly. She had been in the boot for four months and it was finally time for the boot to come off, so we had a little party for her to celebrate her freedom from the boot.

THIS BOOT SHALL PASS

To: Kim From: Kyra

It was a day like any other, Soccer practice, busy mother.

Three kids and a newborn babe, climbed a hill, one child to save.

Then you took quite a spill, By the fields at Alberhill.

Rushed away to the ER, But the pain never went far.

For weeks you had it so rough, Pain meds were never enough.

When your brother and his wife were sealed, In a wheel chair you were wheeled

Then came surgery day Friends and family knelt to pray

You came out with a plate and ten screws It’s no wonder you had the blues.

Yet you handled it with such grace, Trying to keep a smile on your face.

Now physical therapy three times a week Things at times probably appear bleak

But I hope you see light at the end That you know you’re surrounded by friends.

Just remember you’ve come so far. You can bathe yourself, cook and drive a car!

So even when the journey seems long And it feels like everything’s going wrong.

Please remember this boot shall pass… Even though right now it’s a pain the @$$!
